What it means
This status indicates your case has moved from simply waiting in the queue to being worked — an officer is reviewing it. It is generally a forward-motion status. It does not, by itself, tell you the decision or guarantee a decision is imminent; cases can show this state and then wait again, or move to a request for evidence, an interview, or a decision.
Is it normal?
Yes, it's a normal part of the lifecycle and usually a good sign that the case is progressing. There's no fixed length — some cases move to a decision quickly after this, others display it for a while.
What you can do now
Keep an eye on the wording — the next change is what matters (approval, RFE, interview scheduling). Comparing your wait against your office's current processing time still tells you whether you're inside the normal window. Watch for mail from USCIS in case an RFE or notice is issued.
